Project Output: Ink and Insights
1. Introduction
Sattva conducted a structured educational intervention for students of Sri Renuka Foundation School, Ghattarga, Karnataka, with the objective of strengthening foundational academic skills while fostering global awareness and social responsibility. The initiative was designed as an online training programme delivered over a period of several months.
2. Programme Overview
The training modules focused on the development of:
- Reading and comprehension skills
- Writing skills across multiple formats
- Critical thinking and reflective thinking abilities
In addition, the programme incorporated key elements of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and Sustainable Development, encouraging students to engage with themes of justice, sustainability, peace, and social responsibility.
3. Pedagogical Approach
An activity-based and participatory learning methodology was adopted throughout the programme. These interactive modules enabled students to actively engage with the learning process, making education both meaningful and enjoyable. The approach helped students develop a sense of ownership over their learning while strengthening their confidence in expressing ideas.
4. Outcomes and Impact
As a result of the training:
- Students produced original pieces of writing, including essays, poems, and short stories.
- The submissions reflected a strong sense of hope, agency, and belief in their ability to create positive change through writing and action.
- Students expressed an understanding that their voices matter and that small, thoughtful actions can contribute to meaningful societal impact.
5. Publication and Launch
The collected writings were curated, edited, and compiled into a book titled Ink and Insights. The publication features contributions from both students and teachers and serves as a testament to their creativity, critical thought, and aspirations for a better future. The book was formally launched as the culmination of the programme.
6. Acknowledgements
I am grateful for the opportunity to facilitate this entire journey — from designing and delivering the sessions to mentoring students and editing the final publication. This initiative was truly a collaborative effort. I extend my sincere thanks to the school management and the Principal, Mrs. Kalpana Nagar, for their trust, support, and encouragement throughout the process.
7. Conclusion
Through this initiative, Sattva aims to contribute, in meaningful ways, to the creation of a more just, sustainable, and peaceful society. Ink and Insights represents a small yet significant step toward empowering young voices and nurturing changemakers of the future.
