Two-Day Teacher Training Workshop on the 5E Model and Global Citizenship Education- July 1st and 2nd, 2026

Sattva had the opportunity to conduct a two-day teacher training workshop on the 5E Model of Lesson Planning and Global Citizenship Education (GCED) for 37 teachers at Om Central Public School, Kabbur, Karnataka.

The workshop introduced educators to the five phases of the 5E instructional model—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate—through interactive discussions, collaborative activities, classroom demonstrations, and practical examples. Participants explored how inquiry-based and learner-centred pedagogies can make classrooms more engaging while fostering deeper understanding and critical thinking.

A key focus of the workshop was aligning the NEP 2020 competencies with the 5E framework and exploring practical strategies to integrate the values and principles of Global Citizenship Education into everyday classroom practices. Teachers reflected on ways to nurture empathy, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and responsible citizenship through their lesson planning.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the programme was witnessing teachers translate theory into practice. On the first day, participants worked collaboratively to design their own 5E lesson plans, and on the second day, they confidently presented and demonstrated these lessons. Their creativity, enthusiasm, openness to new ideas, and commitment to improving classroom practices made the workshop an enriching learning experience for everyone involved.

The workshop concluded with a shared understanding that every teacher has the potential to be a changemaker, creating meaningful and lasting impact through thoughtful and inclusive educational practices. We are grateful to Mrs. Kalpana Nagar, Principal of Om Central Public School, and the school management for their trust, support, and warm hospitality. Opportunities such as these continue to strengthen Sattva’s commitment to empowering educators and promoting meaningful, learner-centred education.
