It was a great opportunity for me to interact with DP1 Students at Knowledgeum Academy. We had an interactive session on Media and Information Literacy and how we can become better digital citizens. The best part of the session was to observe that students are becoming more aware and sensitive to issues around, and they are also open to multiple perspectives. I am thankful to Knowledgeum Academy and Sruthi Suresh for giving me this wonderful opportunity. It is with such support that I can take small steps in promoting global citizenship Education.
Thank you SIMA Academy for the documentaries and resources. We screened the documentary titled “Mediaocracy- We the Voters” for students to understand the impact of social media in shaping political opinions.
Response
It was an honour to have Ms. Rajvi Trivedi with us at Knowledgeum Academy!
She conducted a session on Digital Citizenship in relation to the TOK optional theme Knowledge and Technology. Her interesting insights, thought-provoking questions, and engaging activities enabled students to immerse themselves in the session. The school team was also impressed by the attention to detail in how the session was conducted to promote awareness and how recycled materials were used to promote sustainability.
I look forward to working with you again. Thank you, Ms. Rajvi Trivedi for conducting this brilliant session!
More about the Event
Knowledgeum Academy recently conducted an engaging session on Digital Citizenship for DP1 learners, led by Ms. Rajvi Trivedi, Director of Sattva – A Space for Lifelong Learning. The session emphasised critical thinking, media literacy, and responsible online behaviour, encouraging learners to reflect on their online actions and assumptions.
Through discussions and activities, learners explored topics like information verification, the impact of social media on personal choices, and responsible online commenting. A notable highlight was the “Fact vs. Opinion” analysis, which sparked debates on media influence and responsible citizenship, with learners reflecting on statements like, “The media tells us who the most deserving candidate is.”
The session also underscored environmental consciousness by using recycled paper for activity sheets, aligning with the academy’s sustainability values. As one learner aptly noted, “Technology is just a tool. What matters is how we use it to shape our world.” By pledging to be more mindful of their digital footprint, learners embraced the idea that true digital citizenship involves conscious, empathetic, and informed engagement.
This initiative reflects Knowledgeum Academy’s commitment to preparing learners for academic and real-world success in a connected digital age.
